Hi my beautiful readers It is the Summer and a lot of you are getting ready to go on holiday or have already been. I have just come back from Mykonos and feeling the holiday blues already. I was invited by one of my closest friends Maria, for her hen party. This was my first hen party abroad and I could not wait! Mykonos is one the most picturesque places I have ever been to. It is truly beautiful and the weather is amazing. We stayed at the Corfos Hotel in Ornos, this hotel was a small boutique hotel that had a really nice pool area. I LOVED the bed sun loungers.
We arrived in Mykonos later in the afternoon and relaxed a little when we got to the hotel and slowly got ready for dinner. I wore ASOS FRIENDSHIP Leather Tie Leg Sandals which I pretty much lived in on this trip. Mykonos has very uneven ground and heels are not ideal. These were perfect for the evening and super comfy and they go with EVERYTHING. I love them. My dress is the PRIM KHAKI SLINKY DRAPE ASYMMETRIC DRESS from Pretty Little Thing. I love the khaki colour and the way it wraps round the body is very flattering. My chain is from Primark and was £3, BARGAIN! My hair is naturally straight so I kept it as it was and tucked it behind my ears. The make-up look I went for was a bold red lip and a fierce cat eye with hardly any eyeshadow. My base was very bronze and highlighted, I am obsessed with highlighter. We were off to Buddha Bar for dinner.
The view walking up to Buddha Bar was breathtaking. You could see the boats on the ocean, and we had this view whilst eating our meal. The food in Buddha Bar was lovely, I opted for the Five Spices Barbecue Chicken. The presentation of the food and service was great. Buddha Bar is slightly on the more pricey side but sometimes we should treat ourselves. After dinner we went back to our hotel to get an earlier night as the next day we were off to a beach party.
When I woke up the next day the weather was so beautiful. It was sunny and the sun just puts me in the best of moods. Everyone that knows me personally knows I love jumping. It is tradition that I do a jumping picture in every destination I visit For the beach party I felt these Rad + Refined Queen of The Dance Floor Round Sunglasses from ASOS were a fun and funky option to wear. I wore these denim studded shorts that I bought from ASOS years ago and teamed them up with ASOS JESS Pom Pom Espadrilles, which are super cute. We wore customised matching tops. Mine said, ‘Maria’s Hen Mykonos 2016’ with my name on the back. We were off to Paraga Beach. To get to Paraga Beach we had to take a boat taxi from Ornos Beach which is situated a 5 minute walk away from our hotel.
Once we got to Paraga Beach we headed to Kalua Beach Bar for a bit of lunch and cocktails. This is also where the beach party was going to happen. The cocktails were lovely, I always have a Piña Colada when I am on holiday, it does not feel like a holiday if I do not have one. The yummiest cocktail was the Porn Star Martini, you have to try it! After all the food and cocktails we decided to enjoy the sun, sea and sand before the beach party starts. Going into the sea was amazing. The water was so clear as if I was in a swimming pool. I wore the ASOS Floaty Frill Crop Bikini Top and the ASOS Double Tie Side Bikini Bottom, this was a really comfy bikini. It was around 35 degrees that day so I drenched myself in factor 50 suncream. Skincare is so important when exposed to the sun, make sure you are protected from harmful UV rays.
The beach party at Kalua Beach Bar was so much fun. Magdalene, Maria’s sister brought lots of fun props that we could wear. I LOVE dressing up! We danced and had a few more cocktails to celebrate being in beautiful Mykonos for Maria’s Hen. The vibe in Kalua was electric. There was a live Saxophone player that played alongside the DJ. Everyone around us just wanted to have a good time and we made a lot of friends which was a bonus. We missed the last boat taxi back to Ornos beach but managed to get a taxi to our hotel. We were having too much fun to think about the time. We saw such a nice sunset from the taxi, it was worth it.
The next day we had a night out planned so we just chilled by the pool in our hotel most of the day and got ready slowly. We had pre drinks in Maria and Magdalene’s room where we took a few cheeky photos We went to the Toy Room Club which plays a mixture of RnB and Hip-Hop. The club was had a great atmosphere and is located in Mykonos Town. In the club we met a teddy bear! It was a man dressed in a teddy bears outfit, he must have been baking as it was really warm in the club. Maria was sporting a veil so we made friends in the club fairly quickly. Toy Room Club was a great place for a night out, the music was great and the club had a great vibe about it. Drinks are pricey so pre drink if you can. We got back to our hotel around 4am, it was worth it, we had a great time.
On our last day, it was a seriously chilled out day on Ornos Beach. The water was crystal clear and the views were breathtaking. It literally felt like I had stepped into a postcard. We paid extra to have really nice sun beds, they were so comfy and plush. It was almost 35 degrees so we jumped into the sea to cool ourselves down. I will miss the amazing weather that Mykonos has to offer and the spectacular views. We went to Kostantis to have lunch and the food was presented beautifully and tasted great. The way the sushi was laid out was amazing. The view of the beach whilst we ate was so nice and I was sad it was our last day. Time was going too quick!
Mykonos has so much to offer and it does not surprise me that it is a hotspot for celebrities. It is beautiful and picturesque and the clubs and bars do have a high price tag. Mykonos is not a somewhere to have a budget holiday, it can be expensive if you are going to drink and eat out every everyday. My advice would be to set aside 100 euros a day for expenses to be on the safe side. The weather in Mykonos is dry and hot, I LOVE it! The island is absolutely beautiful and has some of the most breathtaking views. I was here for 5 days but I did want to stay longer. If I do come back to Mykonos in the future I would stay for at least a week. We did not get to visit Mykonos Paradise Beach so I would love to go and see it in the future as I know thats where all the parties are at. I had an amazing time in Mykonos and would recommend this destination for a holiday. It has so much to offer for all kinds of people. If you want to party there are amazing clubs and when you want to relax there are beautiful beaches. The choices are endless.
I LOVE travelling and discovering new towns, cities and countries. We have so many beautiful places in the world and discovering more places helps us discover ourselves and learn about different ways of living and cultures. In December I will be going to South Africa which I am super excited about If you have the budget, do travel as much as you can. You will have invaluable experiences.
