Hi my lovely readers,
I feel like I have not done a fashion or outfit post in too long! I am going to share a range of outfits that I wore on my amazing trip to South Africa. Some outfits, we got the opportunity to shoot and others I just wore casually. One of the main reasons for our trip to South Africa was a wedding. So my first two outfits are Indian and the rest is pretty much an ASOS Haul All these photos were taken by my other half, Ambo. He always does such an amazing job and he is my main photographer for Krupa Around Town. His support gives me a lot of motivation. Now back to the outfits-
This outfit was worn at a function called a mendhi. A mendhi is a function that takes place before an Indian wedding, the bride gets henna put on her hands and so do the guests. It is an evening of dancing, fun and music. I wore this very red Indian dress. This outfit is a fusion of eastern and western style, this is why I really like it. It has beautiful diamonte detail and comes in really nicely at the waist. It is a super comfy outfit which was perfect for the occasion. Ambo and I didn’t plan on matching- it just happened. The colour of this outfit looked beautiful against the greenery of Johannesburg. I bought the outfit here in London on Green Street 2 years ago. The shop I purchased it in no longer exists, but you can find this style of outfit all over Green Street, which is based in East London. I braided my hair and pinned it up as the heat was making my hair rather hard to tame! But I really liked the way it looked in the end.
For the wedding, I wore this white outfit. No, I was not trying to overshadow the bride, an Indian bride traditionally wears red. So wearing white is all good This outfit is a three piece set- you have the bottoms which are tight around the ankles, the salwar kameez and the mesh overcoat. I love the way this outfit flows and it is very elegant. The mesh material did make me feel very warm in the heat! I paired this outfit with sparkly heels and a big tikka (the jewel that is on my forehead). I felt white against the natural background looked lovely.
In South Africa it was Christmas Day, so we thought why not shoot with the zebras. This playsuit is from Topshop 2 years ago so they do not sell it anymore, here is an alternative. The PETITE Satin Bird Print Playsuit is similar, with longer sleeves. This playsuit is in a shirt style in a satin material. Christmas day in South Africa was warm- 25 degrees, so a playsuit was the perfect kind of outfit. I paired the playsuit with wedges from New Look and gold dangly earrings- keeping it festive. I also went for a dark berry lip.
At night South Africa was still warm! So this ASOS Moroccan Tile Print Pom Pom Pyjama Playsuit was perfect. It has a V-neckline, white pom poms and adjustable straps. The fabric is super soft and comfortable. I loved the vibrant print on the material. This was the perfect outfit for those warm South African mornings. It retails at £8.00, which is an absolute BARGAIN! The side tie detail is lovely too.
For this trip I did buy a range of swimwear, this ASOS Plait Macrame Fringed Cut Out Swimsuit is beautiful. It has long fringing that drapes down the legs. I bought it in the nude colour as I did not have a nude swimsuit. The fit was absolutely perfect and I felt like a million dollars in this outfit. It is head turner of an outfit so I wore it at out stay at the Four Seasons in Johannesburg, not one for a family pool. There is the most gorgeous braiding detail on the straps. If you want a swimsuit that is going to make an impression then this is the one. It retails at £27.00.
A few other Outfits we did not get to shoot but I wore on my trip are-
ASOS Photographic Palm Print Contrast Swimsuit, lovely tropical print and strap and zip detail. Retails at £32.00.
ASOS PETITE Tropical Print Eyelet Beach Dress, really lightweight comfortable beach dress. Perfect for the South African weather. Retails at £18.00.
ASOS Scuba Camo Printed Body Swimsuit, loved the thickness of the material and the black and white camouflage detail. really comfortable with a zip in the front. retails at £40.00.
